All primitives are provided with a so-called source point (head) and a so-called target point (tail), arbitrarily defined. They are divided into two categories:
So-called geometrical primitives : line segments, polylines, polygons, and arcs of circle. An attributed version is available for each one (see next item).
So-called Qgar primitives, or graphical primitives, which are in fact geometrical primitives (see previous item) provided with extra attributes for color, thickness, and outline.
